How to deep fry a photo into a GIF
A deep fried meme looks like it's been saved and re-shared a thousand times: colours pushed too far, blocky smudges, a bulging face and glowing eyes. This deep fried meme maker does all of that to your photo, then animates the stickers and the eyes.
- Add a photoTap Add your photo. A face looking at the camera works best. The glowing eyes sit where a centred face's eyes usually are, so drag the photo in its slot to line the eyes up with them.
- Write a caption (optional)The Caption says “me rn”. Type your own (up to 32 characters) or clear it.
- Pick a fry levelCrispy is a light fry, Extra crispy is the classic and Burnt is barely recognisable.
- Stickers on or offStickers and glowing eyes adds a crying-laughing face, a 100, a red B and a flame that bounce in turn, plus red lens flares on the eyes. Turn it off for just the fried photo and the caption.
- Make my GIFTap Make my GIF, then share or download it.
What gets deep fried
- A selfie, at Burnt, for the group chat at 2 a.m.
- Your friend's most serious photo, at Extra crispy.
- A screenshot of a message that deserved it.
- Your pet, with the caption “me rn”.
Want the photo to move more? The vine boom zoom gives it a dramatic close-up, and party mode turns it into a colour-cycling pop-art print.
Good to know
The stickers are drawn by DropGIF, not taken from an emoji font, so they look the same on every phone. The frying happens in your browser: the photo is never uploaded, and the 400×400 GIF has no watermark.
Fried photos have lots of tiny detail, so the GIF is bigger than a smooth one. The size shows under the button before you make it. More meme formats are in the GIF templates gallery.
