Privacy
Short version: your videos, photos and GIFs never leave your device. We never see them.
Last updated October 22, 2026.
Your files stay on your device
DropGIF converts videos and photos inside your browser. The files you choose, the frames, captions and the finished GIF are processed on your own phone or computer and are not uploaded to us or anyone else. You can check this in your browser's network panel while you export. Two optional features download code to your device the first time you use them: a video converter for unusual formats (ffmpeg.wasm, from the jsDelivr CDN) and the background-removal model (from Google's MediaPipe servers). Your files are not sent with these downloads.
What we measure
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't use cookies. We also record anonymous product events, such as "an export finished", with settings like width, frame rate and file size. We never record file names, file contents, captions or anything you made.
Ads
Free pages may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can manage this at Google Ads Settings. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first. Ads never appear inside the editor, and Pro removes them.
Pro and payments
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, which collects your email and payment details to process the purchase and send your receipt and license key. DropGIF never sees your card. When you activate Pro, we store your license key in a secure cookie in your browser and check it with Dodo Payments about once a day.
Cookies we set
- dg_pro: a signed cookie that says Pro is on in this browser (only if you activate Pro).
- dg_pro_hint: tells the page to hide ads before it loads (only for Pro).
The app also stores its own files (and any video you share to it on Android) in your browser's cache so it can work offline. Clearing your site data removes them.
Children
DropGIF is a general-audience tool and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children.
