How to make a happy birthday GIF with a name
This birthday GIF maker builds a little party card: bunting across the top, balloons bobbing at the sides, confetti falling behind a round photo, and “Happy birthday” with the name underneath. It takes about a minute.
- Type the nameType it in Name, for example Tom, Grandma or Ms Lee. It's added after the message with an exclamation mark.
- Change the message (optional)The Message says Happy birthday. Change it to “Happy 80th birthday” or “Happy birthday, team”, up to 24 characters.
- Add a photo (optional)Tap Add photo to put their picture in the circle. A face close-up fills it best; drag it to move it and use the slider to zoom. Leave it out and the circle shows a cake with three candles.
- Pick the coloursParty is bright blue and yellow, Pink is soft and pretty, and Night is dark blue with gold, which looks lovely in dark mode.
- Make my GIFTap Make my GIF. On a phone, tap Share to send it in Messages or WhatsApp, or save it to your photos first.
Who it's for
- Family: a grandchild's photo with “Happy birthday Tom!” for the family group chat.
- Teachers: a class birthday GIF without a photo (the cake version) for the class page or a slide.
- Friends: their worst selfie, in the Night colours, sent at midnight.
- Work: “Happy birthday, team” for a shared birthday in Slack or Teams.
- Pets: the dog's birthday deserves a GIF too.
For other celebrations, try the rainbow party GIF maker or sparkly glitter text. For an anniversary, the heart GIF maker puts a photo in a beating heart.
Sending it in Messages, WhatsApp or email
The GIF is a 400×400 square, so it shows up whole in a chat bubble. On an iPhone or Android phone, Share opens your share sheet: pick Messages, WhatsApp or Mail. WhatsApp may turn the GIF into a short video that loops; that's normal. On a computer, Download GIF and attach it to an email or drag it into the chat.
Your photo stays on your device the whole time. Nothing is uploaded, there's no account to make, and DropGIF doesn't add a watermark.
